Japan Air Force and US AirForce -- E-3 Sentry, Hercules C-130, F-22

The E-3 airborne warning and control system (AWACS) is built by Boeing Defense & Space Group. The role of the E-3 is to carry out airborne surveillance, and command, control and communications (C3) functions for both tactical and air defence forces.

So The Lockheed Martin C130 Hercules was first flown in 1954. Currently is the West's most popular and widely used military transport aircraft. It is in service with more than 60 operators worldwide. In many cases the C-130 is the largest cargo aircraft in their inventory. Deliveries began in 1956. As of 2015 type has been in production for a whooping 61 years. By 2015 a total of 2 500 of these airlifters have been built. So the Hercules is one of the toughest, most adaptable and significant military transport aircraft in the world.

The F-22 Raptor defines air dominance. The 5th Generation F-22’s unique combination of stealth, speed, agility, and situational awareness, combined with lethal long-range air-to-air and air-to-ground weaponry, makes it the best air dominance fighter in the world.

Fly with USAF Thunderbirds over Fort Lauderdale Beach (360 degree cockpit view)

A 360 degree view from the cockpit of Thunderbird 4 over Fort Lauderdale Beach.

The USAF Air Demonstration Squadron ("Thunderbirds") is the air demonstration squadron of the United States Air Force (USAF). The Thunderbirds are assigned to the 57th Wing, and are based at Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. Created in 1953, the USAF Thunderbirds are the third oldest formal flying aerobatic team (under the same name) in the world, after the United States Navy Blue Angels formed in 1946 and the prestigious French Air Force Patrouille de France formed in 1931.

The Thunderbirds Squadron tours the United States and much of the world, performing aerobatic formation and solo flying in specially marked aircraft. The squadron's name is taken from the legendary creature that appears in the mythologies of several indigenous North American cultures.

On 1 March 2013, the USAF announced that due to budget cuts, aerial demonstration team performances would cease indefinitely, effective 1 April 2013. On 6 December 2013 the Thunderbirds announced their 2014 schedule and the resumption of their appearances.

Visual Augmentation Helmet Mount Display for Rotorcraft Pilots (POV Tech Demo)

A new helmet-mounted display could be a pilot's other 'eye in the sky' or the 'X-Ray' Top Gun Helmet, as it has the ability to 'see' through even the thickest fog and create digital images of any on coming obstacles. The technology combines terrain information and sensor readings to display speed and altitude.

The Pilot assistance systems for helicopter flight in degraded visual environments are investigated at the Institute of Helicopter Technology at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The pilot gets 3D-conformal information displayed in a head-mounted display. The two display concepts are Terrain and objects for obstacle detection and avoidance and Reference elements for hover assistance.

Fog, blizzards, rainstorms and gusts of wind can all affect how the aircraft files, as lift is created by the air rushing over the wings, as well as shifts in air pressure, wind speed or an intense impact of lift are powerful enough to force an aircraft to suddenly rise or fall.

However, these events can be prevented if the pilot can predict what is up ahead – before they reach it. Technical University of Munich believes their helmet-mounted display, which uses digital eye glasses, is the solution to this problem, even if the pilot's vision is impaired by outside conditions. All of the data from outside is processed aboard the aircraft and projected directly to the see-through head-mounted display, that gives the pilot an ability to see obstacles with his own eyes and also view digitally generated outlines of the landscape and other potential obstacles.
