China's Liaoning Aircraft Carrier Strike Group Training: Combat-Ready Naval Power (Overview-Footage)

The Liaoning Aircraft Carrier Strike Group conducts transregional training in June 2017. China's aircraft carrier and its rapidly modernizing navy, puts Beijing in an elite club with the greatest naval powers in the world. This development has raised eyebrows in the Pacific and globally, as China ignores international law, builds and militarizes artificial islands in the South China Sea, and threatens its neighbors.

Liaoning (16; Chinese: 辽宁舰; pinyin: Liáoníng Jiàn), a Type 001 aircraft carrier, is the first aircraft carrier commissioned into the People's Liberation Army Navy Surface Force. It is classified as a training ship, intended to allow the Navy to experiment and gain familiarity with aircraft carrier operations.

Originally laid down in 1985 for the Soviet Navy as the Kuznetsov-class aircraft cruiser Riga, she was launched on 4 December 1988 and renamed Varyag in 1990. After the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, construction was halted and the ship was put up for sale by Ukraine. The stripped hulk was purchased in 1998 and towed to the Dalian naval shipyard in northeast China.

The ship was rebuilt and commissioned into the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) as Liaoning on 25 September 2012. Its Chinese ship class designation is Type 001. In November 2016, the political commissar of Liaoning, Senior Captain Li Dongyou, stated that Liaoning was combat ready.

China's Liaoning stacks up to other carriers worldwide, almost two decades after buying the hull from Ukraine in 1998, China has finally declared its sole aircraft carrier ready for combat.

The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is the armed forces of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the People's Republic of China. The PLA consists of five professional service branches: the Ground Force, Navy, Air Force, Rocket Force, and the Strategic Support Force.

The PLA is the world's largest military force, with a strength of approximately 2,285,000 personnel, 0.18% of the country's population. In September 2015, Xi Jinping, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and the commander-in-chief of the PLA, announced a reduction of the number of military personnel by 300,000] The PLA's insignia consists of a roundel with a red star bearing the Chinese characters for Eight One, referring to the Nanchang Uprising which began on August 1, 1927.

The PLA is under the command of the Central Military Commission (CMC) of the CPC. It is legally obliged to follow the principle of civilian control of the military, although in practical terms this principle has been implemented in such a way as to ensure the PLA is under the absolute control of the Chinese Communist Party. Its commander in chief is the Chairman of the Central Military Commission (usually the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China as well as Paramount leader). The Ministry of National Defense, which operates under the State Council, does not exercise any authority over the PLA and is far less powerful than the CMC. A system of political officers embedded within the military ensures party authority over the armed forces so that the primary role of the Ministry of Defense is that of a liaison office with foreign militaries rather than a commanding authority. The political and military leadership have made a concerted effort to create a professional military force, the duties of which are restricted to national defence and to the provision of assistance in domestic economic construction and emergency relief. This conception of the role of the PLA requires the promotion of specialised officers who can understand modern weaponry and handle combined arms operations. Units around the country are assigned to one of five Theater commands by geographical location.

Military service is compulsory by law; however, compulsory military service in China has never been enforced due to large numbers of military and paramilitary personnel. In times of national emergency, the People's Armed Police and the People's Liberation Army militia act as a reserve and support element for the PLAGF.

US & Japan Navy: Dual-Carrier & Strike Groups near the Korean Peninsula (Aerial Footage & Deck Ops)

The U.S. Navy has begun dual-carrier operations with the USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) and USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) in the Sea of Japan. Both the Carl Vinson and Ronald Reagan carrier strike groups are operating with Japanese navy ships in the Sea of Japan near the Korean Peninsula. US Carrier Strike Groups sailed near the Korean Peninsula, while on May 2017 a 2nd Aircraft Carrier sails towards North Korea: U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan (CVN-76) conducts flight operations en route to the Sea of Japan on May 21, 2017 and joins the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70) when it completed the trip. Operating two carrier strike groups in the Western Pacific provides unique training opportunities for our forces and provides combatant commanders with significant operational flexibility should these forces be called upon in response to regional situations.

China DF-ZF (WU-14) Nuclear Capable Hypersonic Glide Vehicle Combat Simulation

Source:  http://www.deagel.com/Defensive-Weapons/DF-ZF_a002937001.aspx

Description: The Chinese DF-ZF Hypersonic Glide Vehicle (HGV), dubbed WU-14, is a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile delivery vehicle designed to penetrate the United States ballistic missile defenses. The HGV payload is launched as the final stage of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). The HGV hypersonic vehicle is capable of speeds between Mach 5 (+6,000 kilometers per hour) and Mach 10 (+12,000 kilometers per hour) at altitudes of up to 62 miles (100 kilometers). An hypersonic cruise missile can perform precision strikes with relative low altitude and flat trajectory which makes it difficult to detect and neutralize by conventional air and missile defenses. The first test of the new weapon was carried out over China on January 9, 2014. The Chinese Global Times reported that the maximum speed achieved by the WU-14 during the test was actually Mach 20 instead of Mach 10 as reported by the United States. The weapon was re-named DF-ZF in November 2015.

North Korea launching KN-17 ballistic missile - RED ALERT

North Korea claimed Monday that it successfully tested a new missile the previous day capable of carrying a "large, heavy nuclear warhead."

North Korea launches successful missile test
It was the regime's most successful missile test to date, but officials in in South Korea said more information was needed before the North's inflammatory claim about nuclear warheads could be confirmed.

U.S. officials had yet to react to the North's claim, but Japan said, regardless, the new test showed "some progress" in the isolated country's missile programme and was thus further evidence that "we have entered a new level of threat regarding North Korea."

Speaking Monday in Tokyo, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga noted that along with the U.S. and South Korea, Japan was going to push this week at the United Nations for greater unity, including efforts to extend "diplomatic cooperation with China and Russia and other countries that have a strong influence" over the North.

Russia Sends SU- 35 to U.S. Coast , Alaska, AGAINST F-22

The Sukhoi Su-35 (Russian: Сухой Су-35; NATO reporting name: Flanker-E[N 1]) is a designation for two separate, heavily upgraded derivatives of the Su-27 aircraft. They are single-seat, twin-engine, supermaneuverable multirole fighters, designed by Sukhoi and built by Komsomolsk-on-Amur Aircraft Production Association (KnAAPO).

The first variant was designed during the 1980s, when Sukhoi sought to upgrade its high-performance Su-27, and was initially known as the Su-27M. Later re-designated Su-35, this derivative incorporated aerodynamic refinements with increased manoeuvrability, enhanced avionics, longer range, and more powerful engines. The first Su-35 prototype, converted from a Su-27, made its maiden flight in June 1988. More than a dozen of these were built, some of which were used by the Russian Knights aerobatic demonstration team. The first Su-35 design was later modified into the Su-37, which possessed thrust vectoring engines and was used as a technology demonstrator. A sole Su-35UB two-seat trainer was built in the late 1990s that strongly resembled the Su-30MK family.

U.S. THAAD Deployment in Korea: ROK Defence Fotification against enemies (Off Loading Night Footage)

The Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) arrived in the Republic of Korea 6 March 2017.  With North Korea upping the amount of missile and nuclear tests last year, the US and South Korea have publicly stressed the need to speed up the deployment of the technology. China has voiced opposition to the proposed placement of the military hardware known as the THAAD system, which it sees as a threat to its own security. "We will firmly take necessary measures to preserve our own security interest, and the US and South Korea must bear the potential consequences," Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Geng Shuang said

Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), formerly Theater High Altitude Area Defense, is a United States Army anti-ballistic missile system which is designed to shoot down short, medium, and intermediate range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase using a hit-to-kill approach. THAAD was developed to counter Iraq's Scud missile attacks during the Gulf War in 1991. The missile carries no warhead, but relies on the kinetic energy of impact to destroy the incoming missile. A kinetic energy hit minimizes the risk of exploding conventional warhead ballistic missiles, and nuclear tipped ballistic missiles will not detonate upon a kinetic energy hit.

Originally a US Army program, THAAD has come under the umbrella of the Missile Defense Agency. The Navy has a similar program, the sea-based Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, which now has a land component as well ("Aegis ashore"). THAAD was originally scheduled for deployment in 2012, but initial deployment took place in May 2008. THAAD has been deployed in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, and South Korea.

The THAAD system is being designed, built, and integrated by Lockheed Martin Space Systems acting as prime contractor. Key subcontractors include Raytheon, Boeing, Aerojet, Rocketdyne, Honeywell, BAE Systems, Oshkosh Defense, MiltonCAT and the Oliver Capital Consortium.

USS Porter close encounter with Russian Su-24 Fighter Jets in the Black Sea (Short Footage)

The U.S. military released a video of 3 Russian fighter jets buzzing the USS Porter in the Black Sea last month.

Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Porter (DDG 78) departed the Black Sea, Feb. 11, after conducting maritime security operations, theater security engagements with allies and partners, and participating in the multinational exercise Sea Shield 2017.

Porter's operations in the Black Sea demonstrated the U.S. commitment to collective security with NATO allies and partners in the region.

"The Porter crew thoroughly enjoyed our time in the Black Sea, including our port visit to Constanta, Romania," said Cmdr. Andria Slough, Porter's commanding officer. "Participating in Sea Shield 2017 provided a tremendous opportunity to enhance our overall operability and combat capability across all warfare areas with our NATO allies in a very challenging environment. We look forward to our next visit to the region."

Porter entered the Black Sea, Feb. 2, to demonstrate the U.S. commitment to the collective security of NATO allies as part of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Porter also conducted a port visit in Constanta, Romania, Feb. 3-8. Senior leadership participated in the in-port planning phase of Sea Shield 2017 while crew members played in a volleyball tournament hosted by the Romanian Naval Academy.

Sea Shield is an annual Romanian-led multinational exercise in the Black Sea to improve interoperability and proficiency of participating units.

Porter, forward-deployed to Rota, Spain, is conducting naval operations in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of operations in support of U.S. national security interests in Europe.

The ship deployed from Naval Station Rota Nov. 30, 2016.

U.S. 6th Fleet, headquartered in Naples, Italy, conducts the full spectrum of joint and naval operations, often in concert with allied, joint, and interagency partners in order to advance U.S. national interests and security and stability in Europe and Africa.

German War Machine Full Scale Attack: Live Fire Combat Training (Footage Compilation)

German Army in Action During Live Fire Combat Training of Infantry, MG3, G36, Marder, Boxer GTK, Tiger and Tornado.

The German Army (German: Deutsches Heer) is the land component of the armed forces of Germany. The present-day German Army was founded in 1955 as part of the newly formed West German Bundeswehr together with the Marine (German Navy) and the Luftwaffe (German Air Force). As of 20 January 2017, the German Army has a strength of 60,303 soldiers.

However, the quite unique German military branch of the Joint Support Service consists to a significant degree of Heeresuniformträger (army uniform wearing personnel). This is also contributed to by the Joint Medical Service, which does have other solely-military-medical branch counterparts (such as in South Africa).

In accordance with EU working hour regulations, the regular work-week is 41 hours, although numerous exceptions exist for e.g. deployments in oversea missions, training exercises, emergencies, and similar military need.

The Dong-Feng 21 (DF-21; NATO reporting name CSS-5 - Dong-Feng (simplified Chinese: 东风; traditional Chinese: 東風; literally: "East Wind")) is a two-stage, solid-fuel rocket, single-warhead medium-range ballistic missile (MRBM) in the Dong Feng series developed by China Changfeng Mechanics and Electronics Technology Academy. Development started in the late 1960s and was completed around 1985-86, but it was not deployed until 1991. It was developed from the submarine-launched JL-1 missile, and is China's first solid-fuel land-based missile. The U.S. Department of Defense in 2008 estimated that China had 60-80 missiles and 60 launchers;[7] approximately 10-11 missiles can be built annually.[8]

Originally developed as a strategic weapon, the DF-21's later variants were designed for both nuclear and conventional missions. As well as a nuclear warhead of around 300 kt, it is thought that high explosive and submunition warheads are available. The latest DF-21D was said to be the world's first anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM). The DF-21 has also been developed into a space-capable anti-satellite weapon/anti-missile weapon carrier.

Though the launcher itself is mobile to reduce vulnerability, an actual launch unit requires support vehicles that can cover a 300×300-meter area, making it hard to move quickly and easier to detect. Also, the launcher is not made to travel off-road and requires solid ground when firing to prevent backblast and debris damage due to the hard launch, restricting its firing locations to roads and pre-made launch pads

Russian Army: Air Defence Ground Forces Live Firing (Russian Ministry of Defence Demo / Promo)

In this video of Russia's Ministry of Defence Army's Air Defence ground forces conduct a live fire demonstration.

The Tor missile system (NATO reporting name – SA-15 «Gauntlet») is an all-weather low to medium altitude, short-range surface-to-air missile system designed for engaging airplanes, helicopters, cruise missiles, precision guided munitions, unmanned aerial vehicles and short-range ballistic threats (anti-munitions). It was also the first air defence system in the world designed from the start to shoot down precision guided weapons like the AGM-86 ALCM day and night, in bad weather and jamming situation. Tor can detect targets while on the move.

The air defense system was created to protect important administrative, economic, and military facilities from strikes of antiradar and cruise missiles, remotely piloted aircraft, glide-bombs, airplanes and helicopters.

With the crew of three people, the Tor-M2U system’s 12 ground-to-air missiles can hit targets flying at speeds up to 700 meters per second at a distance of 12 kilometers (7.4 miles) and an altitude of 10 kilometers (6.2 miles). The system is able to hit four targets simultaneously. It can also hit targets on the move. The air defense system’s possibility to maintain ceaseless fire as it is moving makes the Tor-M2U the best in its class.

Kill probabilities are amazing:

- 0.92-0.95 against aircraft;

- 0.80-0.96 against helicopters;

- 0.60-0.90 against cruise missiles (with an effective range of around 5km/3 miles);

- 0.70-0.90 against precision munitions;

- 0.90 against UAVs.

The reaction time (from target detection to engagement) is 8 seconds, however, it can be somewhat longer (around 10 seconds) whilst in motion and firing in short halts. To facilitate this mode of operation, an auxiliary power unit (APU) is fitted so that the main engine can be shut down while the radar and missile system continue to operate when stationary, enabling long periods of readiness. Target threat classification is automatic and the system can be operated with little operator input. The high performance computing system combined with a passive electronically scanned array radar are the main reasons for the system’s high degree of accuracy, ability to intercept small, fast and highly maneuverable targets, and the very fast reaction times of the system.

Helmet Cam Footage of Ukrainian Warriors - Platoon Attack Training

The Armed Forces of Ukraine (Ukrainian: Збройні сили України (ЗСУ) Zbroyni Syly Ukrayiny, (ZSU)) is the military of Ukraine. They are the principal deterrent force against any aggression that could be shown against the sovereign state of Ukraine. All military and security forces, including the Armed Forces of Ukraine are under the command of the President of Ukraine, and subject to oversight by a permanent Verkhovna Rada parliamentary commission.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine are composed of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, the Ukrainian Navy, the Ukrainian Air Force, and the Ukrainian Airmobile Forces. Ukraine's naval forces maintain their own small Ukrainian Naval Infantry force as well as their own Ukrainian Naval Aviation force. The Ukrainian Sea Guard is the coast guard service of Ukraine, however it is part of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and is not subordinate to the Navy. As a result of the Russian military intervention in Ukraine from 2014, the president commissioned governors of oblasts of Ukraine to create volunteer units under the government program "Territorial Defense". Initially these units received minimal funding coming from regional budgets and mostly relied on donations. In November 2014 most of the territorial battalions were integrated into Ukraine's Ground forces.

National Guard of Ukraine serves as the main reserve component of Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Due to the ongoing hostilities with the Russian Federation, Ukraine has greatly increased the size of its military forces to 204,000 soldiers (+46,000 civil servants) in 2014, not counting paramilitary forces such as the border guards (53,000), the new formed National Guard of Ukraine (60,000) or the security service.[13] Ukraine's armed forces came close to France, which maintained a 229,000 man force, as the largest in Europe when excluding Russia.[14] It was reported that Ukraine's military swelled to 280,000 personnel. This was largely achieved by the repeated waves of mobilization bringing in new recruits while older soldiers had not yet been processed out, the state budget for 2015 ultimately calls for a force of 230,000. Hryhoriy Pedchenko reported that 51% of Ukraine's enlisted personnel were contract soldiers
